Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

Obstacle IQ ("we", "us", "our") provides AI-powered video analysis for obstacle athletes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Name, email address, and password (stored hashed) used to create your account.
  • Profile details you choose to provide, such as sport, primary obstacle, and goals.
  • Authentication tokens issued by our identity provider when you sign in.

Uploaded Videos

  • Videos you upload of your obstacle attempts, stored securely in our cloud storage.
  • Up to 24 low-resolution still frames (max 640px wide, JPEG) sampled from your video and processed by the Obstacle IQ Vision Analysis pipeline (which uses trusted third-party AI infrastructure under contract) strictly to produce your coaching report. The original video file itself is never sent to any third-party AI provider.
  • Metadata you attach, such as obstacle name and notes.

Usage Analytics

  • Pages visited, features used, analyses generated, and approximate session timing, collected through privacy-respecting product analytics tools (such as Google Analytics and PostHog) when enabled, to help us understand aggregate usage and improve the app.
  • Diagnostic logs and crash reports collected through error-monitoring tools (such as Sentry) when enabled, to keep the app reliable. These reports contain technical context and may include your user ID, but exclude uploaded video content.

Subscription & Billing Information

  • Subscriptions are processed through your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). We do not see or store your payment card details.
  • We use RevenueCat to relay subscription status (plan, renewal date, store, anonymized purchase events) to our backend so we can unlock and maintain access to paid features. RevenueCat receives your account user ID and the app-store-issued purchase metadata.

Device Information

  • Browser or app version, operating system, and device type.
  • IP address used for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention.

2. How Information Is Used

  • AI Analysis: Process video frames to generate technique scores, cues, and drill recommendations.
  • Progress Tracking: Persist your analyses so you can view trends and improvements over time.
  • Product Improvement: Aggregate, de-identified usage data to improve features and AI quality.
  • Customer Support: Respond to account, billing, or technical inquiries.
  • Security: Detect fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

3. Video Uploads

  • You retain full ownership of every video you upload.
  • Videos are used only to power obstacle analysis and the features you actively use.
  • We never sell your videos and never use them to train third-party models.
  • You can delete an individual analysis (which also deletes the underlying video file) from that analysis's report page, or delete your entire account from Settings.
  • Videos are stored privately and are never exposed through public share links. Shared report links contain the analysis text and scores only.
  • Videos are retained while your account exists so you can revisit past analyses. They are deleted when you delete the analysis or your account.

4. Sharing of Information

We share data only with the service providers required to operate the app — cloud hosting, authentication, and AI inference. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. We do not sell personal data.

5. Data Security

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
  • Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel using least-privilege access.
  • Row-level security ensures users can only access their own data.
  • We monitor for vulnerabilities and patch promptly.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, uploaded videos, and analysis history within 30 days, except where retention is legally required.

7. Your Choices

  • Update profile details from Settings.
  • Delete an individual analysis (and its uploaded video) from the analysis report page.
  • Permanently delete your account at Settings → Delete Account.
  • Manage subscription billing through your device's app store.

8. Children's Privacy

Obstacle IQ is not directed to children under 13. Athletes under 13 should use the service only with parent or guardian supervision. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 without parental consent.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
